The study reveals 10 happiest states for the elderly: did yours make the list?

Where you live can have a great impact on your mental health.

In particular for the elderly, it is important to establish -in a place that promotes happiness.

Senior adults have a higher risk of mental health problems due to circumstances such as the loss of loved people, loneliness, chronic illness or disability, medicines, retirement changes and other stressors, according to the National Council on aging.

Caring.com, a senior care appeal, has recently launched its senior happiness index, revealing where country seniors are happiest based on the rounding of Wallethub’s state happiness.

Experts analyzed various factors such as state happiness levels, life cost, mid -life expectancy, health rates of residents over 60 years and the number of large centers per state.

Here are the results of the first 10 happiest states for the elderly.

6. Hawaii

Utah claimed the number 1 site for the highest contents, with a 7.69 happiness score out of 10.

According to the study, the Utah’s high rank is due to its “support environment” for big life, good senior health and the third lower percentage (21.48%) of the elderly living alone, which reduces the risk of social isolation.

Researchers mentioned that more than two fifths of voluntary Utah elderly people, which is the highest rate in the United States

Volunteering allows state aging to “be connected and involved with its community,” said Caring.com, who “significantly contributes” to the well -being and happiness.

Idaho followed closely, with a general score of happiness of 7.38 out of 10.

Less than the fourth part of the seniors in Idaho live alone, the second lowest rate in the country and the state occupies the first five places for the senior centers.

“Known for its impressive natural landscapes, Idaho offers the elderly many opportunities for outdoor recreation, promoting physical and mental well -being,” said Caring.com.

Connecticut and Delaware tied number 3, marking 7.01 out of 10 on the happiness scale.

Connecticut has the third highest average life expectancy and is among the first 10 states for general health.

Only 7.2% of Connecticut residents do not have health insurance, which guarantees access to the medical services needed for the aging population.

Connecticut also offers a wide variety of cultural and immersive experiences with discount for the elderly, such as museums, parks, libraries and art events.

According to Caring.com, Delaware is considered one of the “happiest states and support for later life”.

The state occupies the top 10 for health and happiness in general, and in the first five places of the lowest percentage of people living alone.

Caring.com considered the cost of Delaware’s life to be “relatively affordable”, which can help residents maintain a “comfortable and independent lifestyle”.

Other states stood out in these categories, including North Dakota for larger centers per 100,000 population and western Virginia for the most affordable living cost.

Hawaii has the lowest percentage of the elderly over 65 who live alone, the greatest average life expectancy and the greatest state of happiness.
